Staff members from the Houston Dynamo, Dash, and Harris County-Houston Sports Authority gathered Wednesday morning at Pitch 25 to celebrate the United Bid being awarded the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Brian Ching, who remembers watching the 1994 World Cup as a kid and was a member of the U.S. men’s national team squad in 2006, looks forward to the additional boost the tournament will give to the sport in North America.
“I remember the last time the World Cup was in the United States and the amount of attention it brought to the sport and what it really launched,” Ching said, adding that the 1994 World Cup hosted by the U.
