Making a substitute appearance in last month’s Texas Derby was the latest chapter in a longstanding rivalry with FC Dallas for Houston Dynamo midfielder Memo Rodriguez.
“When I played in the Academy, we always had a rivalry with Dallas and always wanted to beat them,” said the 22-year-old Homegrown player, who grew up near Houston. “These games are special, these are the ones that you remember, especially if it’s a hard-fought match and you get the three points at home.”
Houston and Dallas played to a dramatic 1-1 draw on July 21, the fourth successive one between the state rivals.
