Houston Dynamo forward Mauro Manotas scored his first and only career hat trick in a 3-1 Dynamo win over Portland in September 2016.
Almost a year later, Manotas nearly did it again, recording a brace to set a pair of team records.
His first, a 39th minute goal, came on a sliding shot in front of goal off of an assist from Alberth Elis. The score was his 17th goal across all competitions this year, breaking Will Bruin's 2012 benchmark.
He delivered the second in the second half, angling his body to slap a rebound into the net after the keeper deflected a 71st minute shot by Elis.
