No team in MLS was better on set pieces – both scoring and defending – this year than the Dynamo, but it didn’t look like it in Tuesday’s playoff loss to Seattle Sounders FC.
In 34 regular season games, the Dynamo conceded a league-low five goals on free kicks and scored a league-best 16. The goal that Dylan Remick scored in Portland to put the Dynamo through to the Western Conference finals came on another set piece.
They were primed to take advantage of another one Tuesday night when they won a corner kick in the first minute.
