Dynamo rally to defeat D.C. United

Despite a nervy seven minutes of stoppage time, the Houston Dynamo held on, propelled by concurrent second half goals, to defeat D.C. United 2-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday.

On Superhero Night, Dynamo (7-2-2, 23 points) fans quickly picked out a villain in D.C. United (7-4-3, 24 points) defender Steven Birnbaum, who was called for a foul after his collision with Alberth Elis, which left both players shaken up on the grass for nearly two minutes just seconds into the match.

Both players proceeded, but Elis eventually left the game in the 10th minute, hanging his head as he walked from the field to the end of the bench to receive more attention — he was replaced by Memo Rodriguez.
