Frustration had been building in Janine Beckie for nearly four months so when she hammered home a shot from the middle of the box on Saturday night there may not have been a more relieved player in the NWSL.
The Canadian international had a hat trick this year in a friendly against Costa Rica, but she had yet to break through in league play. For someone who holds the record for the fastest goal in Olympic history, going 12 games without one was not acceptable.
“It has been a while,” Beckie said with a smile.
