Friday evening's 6:00 p.m. start to the Dash-Reign FC game raised concerns before it even began.
At kickoff, the temperature was over 90 degrees with a heat index in the 100's at BBVA Stadium. The Dash didn't exactly "smoke out" Reign FC like defender Allysha Chapman was hoping, suffering a 1-0 defeat and seventh loss of the season.
On Thursday, Dash coach James Clarkson raised the point on the start time being his only concern, "but it's Houston. We've got to deal with it, so it'll be the same for both teams," he said.
It was so hot that the referees had to stop the game in the 33rd minute for a hydration break.
