1967 - Pounding the Cards
Led by Bob Aspromonte’s five-hit day, the Houston Astros won by the largest margin in franchise history, winning 17-1 over the St. Louis Cardinals. Behind Aspromonte, catcher Ron Brand led the team with four hits. That record stood until 2019.
1974 - Astros blank the Mets
Thanks to a masterpiece from starter Don Wilson, the Astros blank the New York Mets 1-0. The only run of the game came off the bat of Lee May, who smoked a solo-shot in the second inning to give Houston the lead.
