The best and worst deals in Astros history

The Astros are expected to complete a trade for Philadelphia Phillies closer Ken Giles on Thursday. They’ll have to give up some young players to get the deal done. Although fans are excited, it will take some time before anyone knows if this is a good deal or a bad deal for the Astros.

What we do know is that, historically, the franchise has made some impactful trades on this exact date.

Thirty-three years ago on Dec. 10, the Astros dealt unheralded Danny Heep to the Mets for the then-unknown Mike Scott. Of course, Scott turned out to be a dominant starter and took the Astros to the cusp of their first World Series appearance.
