Springer feeling good after third rehab game

Leading off and playing right field, Springer lined the first pitch he saw from Jose Leclerc past the glove of third baseman Luis Mendez, then hustled to second to beat the throw from left fielder Zach Cone before later scoring the first run of the game.

"I'm excited to be getting some everyday reps, and it's been a good stay so far," said the 2011 first-round Draft pick (11th overall) out of Connecticut.

Springer pushed an outside curve back to Leclerc in the second inning, walked on four pitches from southpaw reliever Chad James to lead off the third, then struck out swinging on a pair of 1-2 counts in the fifth and sixth innings before taking a seat in the eighth.
