Our first round of West Coast baseball is behind us and possibly also the Astros offensive woes. The bats started to warm up in Seattle and stayed red hot during this series in south Chicago. And thank God because as usual the starting rotation handled their business.
Justin Verlander had a good night allowing only 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5 through 6 innings. Joe Smith, Colin McHugh and Ken Giles allowed no other hits through the 7th, 8th & 9th shutting out the White Sox. The offense made sure Verlander got the win when 6 Astros got on base with 5 crossing the plate at the top of the 4th.
