Catcher Jacob Nottingham was the difference maker for the A’s in the Scott Kazmir trade, as their GM told A’s reporters on Friday. He didn’t see the trade coming, but had only to switch clubhouses.
“Yeah, my phone rang in the morning,” Nottingham said. “I thought it was my alarm going off but then I saw Quinton McCracken’s number and answered it. (He) told me the news and I was a little shocked because I didn’t really expect it, but I mean it happened and everything from there, heard from the GM and next thing you know we’re playing Stockton so I just had to switch dugouts, switch locker rooms, walk across the field.
