Homers back Lance McCullers in Astros’ win over Mariners

SEATTLE — Chris Carter has always hit the ball well at Safeco Field. For the first time in a long time, he’s doing well no matter the spot.

Just don’t try to ask him about that.

“Let’s talk about this after the game,” Carter told a reporter Monday afternoon. “I feel like you’re going to jinx it before you even say it.”

Carter’s body language hides a sarcastic, wry character who certainly has felt the pain of lost playing time and a down year, even if he never displays much emotion on the field either way.
