Former Astros top prospect has finally broken out in San Francisco

A former Houston Astros top prospect, Drew Gilbert, has finally broken through at the major league level after a frustrating few years defined by injuries and underperformance. Sadly for Astros fans, Gilbert is doing so in a San Francisco Giants uniform, but you have to be happy for the 24-year-old, who is the latest example that MLB development is rarely linear.

Gilbert was selected by Houston with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft out of Tennessee, and he was seen by some as a long-term solution in center field for the Astros.
