Former Astro J.D. Martinez hits three homers in Tigers’ win over Yankees

Former Astros outfielder J.D. Martinez hit three homers and drove in six runs for the Tigers in Sunday’s 12-4 win over the Yankees in New York.

Martinez became the first Tigers player to hit three home runs in a game since Miguel Cabrera on May 19, 2013, at Texas. According to ESPN, the last Tigers player to homer three times in a game against the Yankees before Martinez was Charlie Maxwell on May 3, 1959.
