BALTIMORE — Jonathan Villar, renaissance man?
The Astros infielder was born in the Dominican Republic but has picked up a tiny bit of Italian because many of his family members have ended up in the country, including his mother, he said.
Villar adds that he hopes to visit Italy after this season because he didn’t get to this past year, but he’s been in the past and said he has Italian citizenship as well as Dominican citizenship. His mother is in Parma, he said, which is in the northern part of the country in between Bologna to the southeast and Milan to the northwest.
