CLEVELAND — Reliever Chad Qualls (pinched nerve in neck) left Cleveland on Monday to join Class AA Corpus Christi for a minor league rehab stint that should last at least two outings.
He’s meeting the team in Springfield, Mo., and is scheduled to pitch Tuesday. Wednesday is a planned off-day before another possible outing Thursday. The earliest he could be activated is Friday, for the start of a three-game series against the Rays — the last games before the All-Star break.
Qualls is joining Scott Feldman on Corpus’ roster. Coming back from right knee surgery, Feldman made his first rehab outing on Sunday, throwing three innings on 62 pitches while allowing three runs.
