Brandon Walter in his first 17 2⁄3 innings this season was certainly encouraging, allowing only three earned runs while maintaining a 19:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Impressive even if only in three starts. Unfortunately, that fourth start was anything but impressive.
The best thing Walter provided for the Astros was that he pitched six innings. Other than that, it’s probably best to forget about this game. The Angels tagged the lefty for seven earned runs, although he struck out six while walking one. Combined that with how well José Soriano pitched against Houston’s lineup, well, you get the point.
