Astros try Jed Lowrie at 3B in first rehab game

A lot has changed since Jed Lowrie last played in a game for the Astros.

The 31-year old shortstop suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb in April. Since then, the Astros have brought up prized prospect Carlos Correa to replace him. With Correa at shortstop, the Astros are trying Lowrie at third base.

On Wednesday night, Lowrie made his first rehab assignment at Double-A Corpus Christi. He went 0-for-2 and fielded two groundouts at third. He exited in the fifth inning and attempted a diving attempt as well according to Matt Young of the Caller-Times.
