HOUSTON -- Another day, another piece of hardware for Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, who joined teammate and World Series Most Valuable Player George Springer in being named winners of Silver Slugger Awards on Thursday.
Altuve won his fourth consecutive American League Silver Slugger at second base, and Springer is a first-time Silver Slugger winner in the outfield. There were eight first-time winners, while Altuve and Giants catcher Buster Posey (National League) won their fourth Silver Slugger Awards.
The Silver Slugger Awards presented by Louisville Slugger go to the top offensive players at each position in each league as selected in a vote by Major League Baseball's coaches and managers.
