The list of Kansas Jayhawks to get major league action isn’t a long one. The three recent examples are all journeyman pitchers- middle relievers Sam Freeman of the Braves and Mike Zagurski of the Brewers are the two active alumni, and the underrated Tom Gorzelanny enjoyed a strong career through the 2000s and early 2010s after pitching with the Jayhawks. Their current ace, Ryan Zeferjahn, is well on his way to besting the draft positions of all three, and has the potential to outperform each of his predecessors in the majors should he reach his ceiling.
