Aaron Valdes scored 18 points and Stefan Jankovic had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the University of Hawai’i basketball team to a 76-64 road victory over UC Santa Barbara on Thursday at the Thunderdome in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The Warriors improved to 17-3 overall and remained in second place in the Big West Conference at 6-1 (first-place UC Irvine is 7-1). The Gauchos dropped to 9-12 overall and 3-5 in the conference with their second loss of the season to Hawai’i.
Quincy Smith added 15 points and five rebounds, Mike Thomas had 11 points and six rebounds, and Roderick Bobbitt contributed nine points, six assists and five rebounds for the Warriors.
