Alex Hart scored on a tip-in with 2.5 seconds remaining to give UC Santa Barbara a stunning 56-54 victory over the University of Hawai’i basketball team in a Big West Conference game on Thursday at Santa Barbara, Calif.
The Warriors rallied from a nine-point deficit with less than nine minutes remaining to tie the score at 54, but Hart’s tip-in gave the Gauchos the upset.
Hawai’i dropped to 12-13 overall and 6-6 in the Big West. UCSB improved to 4-20 overall and 2-10 in the conference. The Gauchos entered the game with an eight-game losing streak.
Gibson Johnson led the Warriors with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, but he was the only Hawai’i player to score in double-figures.
