A scrappy effort could not overcome cold shooting for the University of Hawai’i basketball team in a 68-57 loss to Seton Hall on the opening day of the FS1 Pearl Harbor Invitational at Bloch Arena, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on Tuesday.
Brocke Stepteau scored 17 points off the bench, and Gibson Johnson had 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Warriors. Hawai’i dropped to 4-4, while Seton Hall improved to 6-2.
Hawai’i shot just 32.7 percent from the field (18 for 55), but stayed within single-digits of the Pirates for most of the game. The Warriors also committed 22 turnovers, which led directly to 25 points for the Pirates.
