The first road game of the season for the University of Hawai’i basketball team resulted in the first road loss of the season for the Warriors.
A quick start and valiant finish by the Warriors were not enough in a 67-64 loss at Cal State Fullerton in the Big West Conference opener for both teams. Hawai’i dropped to 6-8 overall; the Titans improved to 7-7.
Hawai’i had – and lost – a 10-point lead early, and then cut a 13-point second half deficit down to three in the final minute. The Warriors had a final possession with a chance to tie, but Leland Green’s off-balance 3-point attempt did not even hit the rim as the final horn sounded.
