Arinze Chidom scored on a hook shot with 2.1 seconds remaining to give UC Riverside a 70-68 victory over the University of Hawai’i on Saturday in a Big West Conference game at the SRC Arena in Riverside, Calif.
The Warriors had a 68-65 lead with 53 seconds remaining, but the Highlanders scored the game’s final five points to take the conference rematch from 24 hours earlier.
Hawai’i, which won Friday’s opener at UCR, dropped to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The Highlanders improved to 4-2 and 1-1.
The loss overshadowed a standout performance from UH senior Casdon Jardine, as well as a spirited comeback by the Warriors.
