Princeton replaces Utah State for 2017 Diamond Head Classic

Princeton has been added to the 2017 Diamond Head Classic as a replacement for Utah State, tournament officials announced on Sunday.

Princeton finished with a 23-7 record in the 2016-17 season, and won the Ivy League regular-season and tournament titles. The Tigers were a No. 12 seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament and lost to Notre Dame, 60-58, in the first round.

It will be the second consecutive season that Princeton will play in Honolulu. Last season, the Tigers went 1-1 (inclduing a win over Hawai’i) in the Pearl Harbor Invitational at Bloch Arena.

The 2017 Diamond Head Classic field will feature five teams that participated in the 2017 NCAA Tournament: Princeton, Miami, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State and USC.
