Ready or not, the University of Hawai’i basketball team will open its 2016-17 season by hosting Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Warriors and Cougars will open the season with a unique 9:00 p.m. start time, due to another college basketball doubleheader earlier at the Sheriff Center. The game, which is part of the three-day Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic, will be televised live in Hawai’i on OCSports (Oceanic channels 16 and 1016).
Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear green shirts for the “Greenout” game.
Hawai’i is coming off its best season in program history, but a well-documented turnover of players has resulted in virtually a brand new team this season.
