Big shots in a big game earned University of Hawai’i guard Sheriff Drammeh the Big West Conference Player of the Week award on Monday.
Drammeh, a 6-3 junior, scored 20 points and produced two crucial plays in the final minute to lead the Rainbow Warriors to a thrilling 70-69 win over Utah Valley on Sunday.
He shot 4 of 8 from 3-point range, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 37 seconds remaining. On Utah Valley’s final possession of the game, Drammeh tipped away an inbounds pass to preserve the victory.
It is the first career Big West Conference award for Drammeh, and the first for a Hawai’i player this season.
