College baseball: Vulcans take one from Hawaii Pacific

The University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball team split a doubleheader against Hawaii Pacific on Saturday at Wong Stadium.

The Vulcans beat the Sharks 4-3 in Game 1, and lost 2-1 in Game 2.

UHH (8-33) and HPU (20-18) close the six-game series with a doubleheader starting at noon Sunday at Wong Stadium.

In Game 1, David Moody pitched five innings in the win. He allowed two runs on five hits and a walk, and struck out six. Jarin Kadooka recorded two outs, Cole Nakachi one out, and David Lee went 1 2/3 scoreless innings before Deric Valoroso pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the save.
