One step forward, one step back. So it goes for the UH-Manoa baseball team.
West Virginia’s Ray Guerrini hit two solo home runs and the Mountaineers scored in every inning but the fifth and sixth Sunday for a 9-2 victory and a split of the four-game series in Honolulu.
The Rainbow Warriors (6-7) were trying to move their record above .500 for the first time this season, but they were outhit 13-6 and starter Josh Pigg (0-2) was pulled after three innings.
Guerrini also doubled and scored for West Virginia (7-3), and Darius Hill collected a two-run double among his three hits.
