Dan Butterly was named the new Commissioner of the Big West Conference on Monday.
Butterly is currently the Senior Associate Commissioner of the Mountain West Conference, and will take over the Big West’s top position on June 1. He succeeds Dennis Farrell, who is retiring after 28 years as Commissioner of the Big West.
The University of Hawai’i basketball team has been a member of the Big West Conference since the 2012-13 season. The Rainbow Warriors are one of nine current programs in the Big West basketball conference. Two schools will join the Big West in July of 2020 – Cal State Bakersfield and UC San Diego.
