Big Isle briefs: Ka’u powers past Kohala in 8-man

In its last tuneup before the BIIF eight-man football championship game, Ka’u came up with its most dominant effort yet.

Freshman Isaiah Pilanca-Emmsley put touchdowns on the board three different ways, rushing for two, catching one and passing for one, and Zachary Kai accounted for three scores Saturday as the Trojans beat Kohala 60-0 in Pahala.

Ka’u (4-1 BIIF, 4-2) is off this week as it prepares to host Pahoa on Oct. 21 for a chance at a second consecutive championship.

Thanks in large part to the emergence of Pilanca-Emmsley and the strong efforts of Kai, the Trojans have won four league games in a row since a season-opening loss to the Daggers.
