Southside Volleyball Club’s run at the USA Volleyball junior boys national championships ended in a tie for fifth-place in Dallas.
The Southside 17s lost in the quarterfinals Wednesday, 25-23, 25-19 to a club from Maine, finishing 8-2 in the 64-team field.
Led by coach Guy Enriques, Southside has a distinct Kamehameha-Hawaii flavor. Avery Enriques, Addie Enriques, Samuel Kahapea, Kameron Moses, Malama McKeague, Jarvis Benito, Albert Kawelu and Nai’a Makuakane attend Kamehameha-Hawaii, and Guy Enriques is the Warriors’ boys coach. Also on the team are Konawaena’s Ben McKinley, Kohala’s Kahualaulani Kualii, Moanaloa’s Brayden Batungbacal and Kamehameha-Kapalama’s Kainoa Downing.
