What We Can About This Year’s Draft Learn from the Packers 2008 Selections

For the first time since 2008, the Green Bay Packers will have a new starting quarterback under center by design. Former first round pick Jordan Love will take over for Aaron Rodgers after sitting and learning behind the future Hall of Famer for three seasons, just like Rodgers did behind Brett Favre from 2005-2007.

The Packers took a very specific approach to their draft in Rodgers’ first year as their starter. While the Packers GM in 2008 was Ted Thompson, current GM Brian Gutekunst learned under Thompson and his overall approach is similar to his mentor’s.
