Vikings QB Sam Darnold expected to play vs. Packers

The Minnesota Vikings were already down one quarterback in first-round rookie J.J. McCarthy, who tore his meniscus in the preseason opener, so when Sam Darnold left the field on Sunday, there was significant worry about the health of Minnesota’s quarterback room moving forward. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, though, Darnold passed tests following the game and was only diagnosed with a knee bruise, rather than any sort of structural injury to his knee. Per Pelissero, Darnold is not expected to miss next Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

That’s a huge break for the Vikings, as Darnold has led the team to a 3-0 record this season.
