Unclubbed Jeff Janis tries to work his way into Packers' receiver rotation

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Considering Jared Abbrederis, Trevor Davis and Ty Montgomery have barely seen any playing time so far, Jeff Janis finally shedding the club cast he’s worn to protect his broken right hand might not be revolutionary for Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy’s offense.

But the third-year receiver is ready if called upon like he was in last year’s playoff loss at Arizona, where Janis had what seemed like a breakout performance with seven catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Any chance to see whether that showing could carry over into this season or if it was just a fluke by a seldom-used receiver was temporarily shelved when Janis broke a bone in his right hand in an Aug.
