In 2022, the Packers eschewed the traditional early bye week NFL teams receive after playing in London, instead being awarded a week 14 bye.
That decision turned out to be quite disastrous. Aaron Rodgers broke his thumb in the overseas loss to the Giants, and the Packers proceeded to lose their next four games and six of seven.
A year on, after two straight losses in the first season post-Rodgers, the early bye week Green Bay just enjoyed couldn’t have come at a better time.
There were plenty of positives to build on from a 2-1 start, but the last two results – a blowout defeat to the Lions and a frustrating loss to the Raiders – have served as a reality check for this young team.
