Green Bay — By the time Randall Cobb arrived in a hospital room in Arizona last January — his lung bruised by an ugly fall after a spectacular leaping effort — the Green Bay Packers had depleted their resources at wide receiver.

Gone was No. 1 option Jordy Nelson, felled by a torn ACL suffered in an exhibition game in Pittsburgh.

Gone was rookie Ty Montgomery, his debut season shortened by an ankle injury that required surgery.

Gone, too, was Davante Adams, the athletic and hyped youngster, who sprained a knee in the wild-card win over Washington.
