Steelers free agent target explains why he didn’t choose Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest in several free-agent wide receivers this offseason. One of the latest names to be connected to Pittsburgh is Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who ended up signing with the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran deep threat is a former teammate of Aaron Rodgers from their time with the Green Bay Packers.

Speaking with the media on Thursday, Valdes-Scantling explained why he signed with the 49ers over the Steelers.

“It was between here and Pittsburgh,” Valdes-Scantling said. “Obviously, I have a good relationship with Aaron Rodgers over there, and he wanted me back over there, so it was a toss-up.
