The Kansas City Chiefs sought to re-tool their roster in free agency and the draft over the last few months, but the team might want to consider making one more splash acquisition after the Green Bay Packers released star cornerback Jaire Alexander on Monday, June 9.
Alexander, a seasoned veteran who entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, is considered one of the top cover cornerbacks in the league, though injuries have limited his availability in recent seasons.
The news of Alexander's release was initially announced by NFL insider Ian Rapoport in a post to Twitter, and later confirmed by the NFL's official account:
It remains unclear if the Chiefs might have a desire to add another cornerback to their roster at this point in the offseason, but Alexander's availability is noteworthy, given the poor performance of Kansas City's secondary in Super Bowl LIX earlier this year.
