Preparation could be paying off for Packers tight end Kennard Backman

Green Bay — A significant chunk of the legwork tight end Kennard Backman believes prepared him for what could be a significant opportunity against the San Francisco 49ers took place in the parking lot of a hotel adjacent to Austin Straubel International Airport.

Backman and a trio of teammates — quarterback Brett Hundley, tailback Alonzo Harris, defensive tackle Christian Ringo — would set up chairs and trash cans behind the Wingate by Wyndham hotel, where they lived during rookie camp and training camp, to simulate concepts from a playbook that confounded them. The three offensive players worked through their routes and responsibilities, and then they helped Ringo with his defensive techniques.
