Packers will close facilities on Friday in observation of Juneteenth

The Green Bay Packers will close their businesses and offices on Friday, June 19 in observation of Juneteenth, a holiday which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

In a statement released by the team, president Mark Murphy said the Packers would use the day to “reflect on our own roles and opportunities to further our awareness of racial injustices and inequities and what we can do to affect positive change in our communities.”

The Packers’ statement indicated the team plans to close their facilities every year on June 19 moving forward.
