Packers training camp kicks off with beloved bike tradition

GREEN BAY, Wis. —

The Green Bay Packers continued their decades-old tradition Wednesday of players riding children's bikes to the kickoff of training camp.

Fans gathered in the pre-dawn darkness, setting up bikes in hopes their favorite players would choose to ride with them to Ray Nitschke Field.

The tradition, which dates back to Coach Vince Lombardi's era, pairs players with young fans who loan their bicycles for the journey to practice.

"I'm excited and nervous. Like, I want a player to ride my bike, but I'm nervous someone won't," Everlyn Fall said.
