Packers to lose assistant special teams coach Micheal Spurlock to Western Kentucky

The Green Bay Packers will lose special teams assistant coach Micheal Spurlock from Matt LaFleur’s coaching staff.

According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, Spurlock is leaving the Packers to become the new wide receivers coach at Western Kentucky.

Spurlock joined the Packers as a quality control assistant under special teams coach Rich Bisaccia and Byron Storer in 2022. Once a decorated returner in the NFL, Spurlock played a key role in the rapid development of All-Pro Keisean Nixon last season.

It’s unclear if LaFleur will fill the vacancy. Bisaccia and Storer will both return as the top special teams coaches in 2023.
