Packers sign former Miami receiver Herb Waters

Green Bay — The Green Bay Packers signed former University of Miami (Fla.) wide receiver Herb Waters to a free-agent deal.

Waters, a native of Homestead, Fla., played four years for the Hurricanes and earned a starting role as a senior. He caught 41 passes for 624 yards last season — both collegiate-high totals — and scored one touchdown.

Though it took him three years to become a starter, Waters was a steady contributor. He caught 28 passes for 406 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore, then followed up with 20 catches for 277 yards and one touchdown as a junior.
