Packers sign former Harvard player to practice squad

The Green Bay Packers lost a practice squad offensive lineman in Lecitus Smith to the New England Patriots on Tuesday, as the Patriots plucked him to their 53-man roster. This left just one offensive lineman on the Packers’ 17-man practice squad, along with an open roster spot.

Green Bay addressed this by quickly signing offensive lineman Spencer Rolland, who previously signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent this spring. Rolland, a Twin Cities area native, was waived by the Vikings at cutdowns.

The 6’6” tackle began his college career at Harvard, where he was a four-year player in the Ivy League.
