Packers release quarterback Sean Clifford for second straight year

The Green Bay Packers are releasing quarterback Sean Clifford during final cuts on Tuesday, according to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated.

Clifford was already on thin ice after being released last year following the Packers' trade for Malik Willis. A fifth-round pick in 2023, Clifford spent the entire season on the practice squad while Willis backed up Jordan Love.

Green Bay gave Clifford another chance by re-signing him this offseason, but with four quarterbacks in camp, opportunities were limited. His preseason performance didn't help: Clifford completed just 9 of 17 passes (52.9%) for 44 yards, finishing with a quarterback rating of 58.
