Packers’ Matt LaFleur Refuses to Call Lukas Van Ness’ Injury Update as a ‘Setback’

Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that Lukas Van Ness’ limited return last week should not be viewed as a setback, even as the defensive end’s snaps were sharply reduced in the Packers’ win over Minnesota. Van Ness appeared in just six plays after missing several weeks with a foot issue, and LaFleur described his status as day-to-day rather than a regression.

Van Ness was activated off injured reserve for the Vikings game with hopes he could provide a pass-rush spark opposite Micah Parsons. His early return fell short of those expectations, but coaches stressed the plan was always to ease him back into game reps and monitor his comfort level throughout the contest.
