Green Bay — The Green Bay Packers don't seem the least bit worried about Clay Matthews' significant increase in playing time this season.
In the first six games, Matthews has played 416 of 421 defensive snaps, or √98.8%. He has played 315 snaps at inside linebacker (74.8%) and 101 snaps at outside linebacker (25.2%).
In the first six games last year, Matthews played 334 of 432 snaps, or √77.3%. All of his action was at outside linebacker.
With the postseason always in mind, coach Mike McCarthy has been forceful about reducing snaps for players whenever possible.
